Repairing or Acquiring Credit
Credit
One of the primary essentials is having credit, or even
better, good credit. The average U.S. credit score is 675.
Your
credit score is based on:

30% is based on payment history, whether or
not you pay late or on time.
30% is based on how much debt you have
versus income. The greater the debt, the lower
the score.
15% is based on how long you have had credit.
15% is based on how often you apply for credit.
10% is based on how many accounts you have
open.

To operate your own business, you will need to repair bad
credit, build, or rebuild your credit. Creditors can file against
your business if you do not make arrangements to settle
debt.

If you have never had any credit problems, this will be easier
for you. Quite simply, a small credit card with a low limit will
be o.k. at first. If you can't get a credit card company to issue
you a card, you may be able to purchase a pre-paid credit
card. Limit your spending and only use it for business. Keep
track of your spending and it's uses. You will need to
maintain good credit.

You will also need a checking or savings account. If you
have bad credit, some banks will not open an account for
you until this is cleared up. If this is the case, you will need
to have access to a check cashing facility.

If you have had credit problems in the past or have never
had any credit, we have a few affiliates you will find useful.

One of the most important products you will ever buy when
you are conducting transactions over the Internet will be
identity theft products. I've had my identity stolen twice (not
over the Internet and finally had to file bankruptcy to clear up
the mess. I tried for years through the courts to no avail so
protect yourself). Some credit cards offer protection but read
the details.
